When I Go Forwards You Go Backwards
have been away… busy… etc…
Being a politcal, economic, and social conservative I’m not terribly suprised nor shocked nor terribly dismayed by this elections outcome. It actually shows a strength in the nation that I was not certain was there anymore. Hopefully the Democrats will take this marginal victory as an avenue too positively affect idle hand corruption in the Republican Party. The Republicans should see this as a warning shot. They have for too long been sliding away from the less spending, less government, and more civil rights that have been the founding ethos of the party proper. All that your constituents wanted was some oversight on the patriot act and some stronger border enforcement. You didn’t give the oversight so the people decided to give that responsibility to the Democrats.
As far as what I hope the Democrats do. I would hope that they push for very strong investigation into every nook and cranny. If they find something, great. Corruption in any persuasion is still corruption. If they don’t find anything though they will have wasted money on witch hunts like the Plame scandal that was ultimately shown to be politcally motivated. What I really don’t want from the Democrats is a leftist push. They must understand that their slim win was not a mandate. It was more a condemnation on the part of conservatives.
As a side note. I still think the current electronic voting machines are terrible. Not that paper is really any better but, paper at least requires some effort to cheat. I would also like to see a take home receipt maybe as well…
