Is Star Wars Pro Slavery?

I was watching futurama the other night on adult swim and was vegging out when I saw this ad for the release of the original (and I mean original as in worse than we remember) Star Wars trilogy… Nothing spectacular about it… A family talking about the things they like about Star Wars.. ok… Then the daughter comes on and says “I would love to have a pet Wookiee”… What?!? Last time I checked the Wookiee was a sentient creature capable of complex social and technical systems. The things can fly spaceships for God’s sake. How is something that exhibits human traits including bipedalism even remotely pet like? This constructed ad family clearly has some deep dark history still flowing in their veins. Tongue firmly planted in cheek…

  1. This is a strange subject to get into. Is the purpose to lower the standard of human existence into a slavery/pethood?.. or to awaken the idea that humans routinely disregard their pets as slave-type entities existing for their amusement? Perhaps it serves both functions.. or maybe some alternative not mentioned here.. strange catch nonetheless….

  2. I’m certain it’s more a case of an ad agency wanting to attract the parents of daughters. Look, cute and fuzzy. This should keep your kids busy for awhile.

  3. certainly that would be the ad agency’s most direct motive… but ulterior ones are a bit more questionable
