Divine Strake
“The experiment is not being conducted in support of any specific existing or planned nuclear or conventional weapon. However, the data from DIVINE STRAKE and previous smaller explosive tests against the tunnel will be used to support improvement of computer modeling codes for predicting ground shock propagation and ground motion.”
- Defense Threat Reduction Agency
It’s my estimation that “Divine Strake” is really a test to create a model/map of fallout levels from an attack by terrorists using a “dirty bomb” seeing as the bomb itself is comprised of ammonium nitrate and fuel. Not exactly military grade explosives. It is to be detonated under an area that has quantities of radioactive debris and it has been admitted that the test will create some form of mushroom cloud. Given that information along with the assumption that the military or at least the Defense Threat Reduction Agency knows what it’s doing, I would say that my estimation is pretty sound. I’m sure if one looked into it one would find that there has been or will be Geiger counters (or perhaps some other form of detection device) placed inconspicuously through-out the country.
*On a side note - When I was a kid I remember going outside with my parents in 86′ days and weeks after chernobyl with my Dads Geiger counter. He needed it for open hole well logging, we even used to have his logging truck with Cesium inside it parked in our front yard, shielded of course. As a kid it was cool to see the radiation levels rise like they did. Something you can’t see taste or smell was affecting this little device. I also remember that was the year no one was to eat any snow.
